The World Design Capital (WDC) is a city promotion project established to celebrate the aims and accomplishments of cities that use design as a tool to reinvent themselves socially, culturally, and economically. PIVOT Dublin is Dublin’s bid to become the WDC in 2014.
Con Kennedy’s Master's research on the Benefits of Continuing Professional Development in the Visual Communications Sector in Ireland and the G6 Series are featured as two projects that elevate Dublin City’s design standards.

Con Kennedy has Joined the Design, Print and Packaging Skillnet Steering Committee

Con Kennedy has joined the Design, Print and Packaging Skillnet steering committee in an advisory role to help develop Skillnet’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Programme for those involved in the design and printing industries.
Con has comprehensively studied the skills, skill deficits, and benefits of professional development for the design and visual communications sector. His focus on a certified CPD Programme ensures the highest standards are met.
This research identified several potential models for delivering such programmes and the need for the industry to participate fully in and commit to continuous development.

The G6 Series Launch

Following the positive feedback from the “How I Became a Designer” talk at Design Week 2010, DIT colleague Barry Sheehan and I have decided to expand on themes that came up for discussion as part of the questions and answers and turn them into a series of talks. The G6 Series talks will run monthly in DIT Mountjoy Square, and admission is free.
