Con Kennedy Appointed as Principal Investigator for DCCI Research Report

The Design and Crafts Council of Ireland has commissioned Con Kennedy to undertake a research report into Design Enterprise in Ireland as part of ID2015. The Department of Jobs, Enterprise, and Innovation is conducting this research. Con Kennedy's research will contribute to an Irish Government policy framework on design in Ireland.

The Problems With Creativity

Con Kennedy will present a paper entitled “The Problems With Creativity” at the Faultlines Conference on Friday, 5th June. Con will also chair the Industry Panel on Saturday, 6th June. Faultlines is the inaugural Irish Design Research Conference, which will be held in the Dargan Centre at the Institute of Technology Carlow.

Launch of New Irish Design Research Journal

Con Kennedy and colleagues from IT Carlow, DIT, University of Limerick, Maynooth University and the University of Ulster have founded a new peer-reviewed journal focusing on Irish design and Design research.
Con will be the Co-Editor, Design Editor and Reviewer of Iterations: Design Research and Practice Review.

Are You Sitting Comfortably?: An Exhibition of Iconic Chair Designs

Con Kennedy and colleagues from IT Carlow's design department have curated a new exhibition featuring iconic chair designs from renowned creatives such as Charles and Ray Eames, Mies Van Der Rohe, and Ron Arad. The exhibition is viewable in the foyer of the Dargan Centre and is open to the public during Design Week.

Con Kennedy will participate in a discussion on the relationship between design and research. This free public talk is part of the G6 Series and is hosted in DIT Grangegorman as part of Design Week.

The Reading Room Exhibition

The Reading Room is an exhibition of design artefacts hosted by Pivot Dublin. It features books belonging to prominent Irish designers. Con Kennedy has donated a copy of Eric Gill's 1931 book An Essay on Typography.
The exhibition is open to the public at Film Base, Temple Bar.
