FAQs
What kinds of clients do you work with, and on what types of projects?
I collaborate with a diverse range of clients, including other creative firms, public agencies, educational institutions, government departments, non‐profits, and startups. My projects cover communications design, strategy & branding, exhibition design, creative narrative development, and design entrepreneurship initiatives. Whether it’s a campaign, a lecture series, or strategic design research, I tailor work to the client’s goals.
1
What is your research focus, and how does it inform your design practice?
My research focuses on entrepreneurship within the design sector, with a particular interest in how designers can establish sustainable practices and how design education and policy can support creative professionals. I bring empirical insights into my design work, ensuring solutions are informed by evidence. This means projects are rooted in user needs, market realities, and systemic opportunity.

Can you give examples of your work or outcomes?
Over my career, I have delivered public talks & keynotes, visual communication design that helps organisations articulate their mission, educational programme development, empirical research that informs government policy, and collaborative design work that has a measurable impact (audience engagement, improved user experience, etc.). You can see more in the Works page of my website.
4
How do you engage in design education?
I teach and mentor in formal academic settings and through workshops. My approach combines theory with hands-on practice and empirical research, featuring case studies, critiques, and opportunities for students to apply research to real-world projects through collaborative initiatives with external stakeholders and clients. I also develop curricula and provide resources that prepare upcoming designers for entrepreneurship and innovation in the field.
5
What is your approach to design research & entrepreneurship?
I employ empirical methods, both quantitative & qualitative, to understand how designers work, the challenges they face, and the conditions that help them succeed. I then translate those insights into frameworks, strategies, and tools that designers, institutions, or policymakers can use to address identified skill deficits within the creative sector. Entrepreneurship is not just about profit; it’s about sustainable creative practice, impact, and resilience.
6
Do you collaborate on policy or advocacy work?
Yes. I advocate for design as a strategic asset—whether through developing policy, institutional partnerships (such as those with IDI), or public engagement. My research contributes to discourse on how design is supported (or under-supported), how design education should evolve, and how design can contribute to broader social and economic goals.
7
What makes your work distinctive?
A few things:
A dual lens of design practitioner AND academic researcher, which means I can both make and reflect, bridging theory and practice
A strong narrative sensibility: I believe in storytelling as a tool for making design ideas compelling and accessible
A commitment to impact and sustainability: not just designing something that looks good, but something that works effectively, endures, and contributes positively
Established networks in academia, design practice, and policy sectors, enabling cross‐disciplinary collaboration
